World’s most expensive

A survey by Mercer, called the Mercer 2021 Cost of Living City Ranking. is now out. According to it, Mumbai is the most expensive city for expatriates in India. Mumbai is at the 78th spot, followed by New Delhi is ranked 117, Chennai 158, Bengaluru 170 and Kolkata 181. 209 cities were surveyed, and the result is here for you to see. Here is a look at the most expensive cities for expats for the year 2021.


Tokyo, Japan

One of the most expensive cities in the world, Tokyo certainly features in the list. Grabbing the fourth position, Tokyo is a blend of the modern and the traditional. The city held the third position in the previous years, but has now slipped into the fourth position. A great city for travel, it is a good place to get introduced to an old culture, but yes, you would have to spend quite a bit of money.


Beirut, Lebanon

One of the finest attractions in the middle-east, this is where east meet west. The city stood third in the survey, and is the only city in western Asia to be on the list. According to Mercer, here at Beirut, the cost of living has gone up in the last year, and this has been made possible due to the severe and extensive economic depression as a result of multiple crisis.


Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

The most expensive city in the world for expats to live and work in, Ashgabat took over Hong Kong this year. The city, according to the report is on the top spot because of inflation, and also a lack of foreign currency in the country. Prices of goods and services are quite high here. The capital of Turkmenistan is actually quite well-kept with beautiful parklands.
