Travellers from India who are going abroad can now be relieved as the CoWin portal is going to allow users to link the vaccination certificates to their passports. The news was tweeted by the Arogya Setu app official twitter account. International destinations are seeking vaccination certificates as a proof of vaccination, and linking an individual’s passport number to it is an ideal step. The official handle of the Arogya Setu app tweeted saying, “Now, you can update your passport number in your vaccination certificate.”
Guidelines have now been issued by the Centre directing travellers on how to update or correct their passport details for COVID 19 vaccination certificates online. You have to visit the official website, www.cowin.gov.in, and login with your credentials. Here you will find an option that says, raise an issue, which you are required to select, and then click on the passport option and select the person from the drop-down menu. Here you have to enter your passport number, and submit the details.
The user will get the new updated certificate after completing the steps within seconds. You can further get your name changed in the certificate if it does not match to the name in the passport. This should further help travellers to travel internationally more easily.
It should also be noted that this process can only be done once. So you can only enter your passport number, and request a name change once. This is why it is important to ensure that there are no mistakes done during the process of correction, and update.
