Indian Railways: services of 50 special train to restart from June 21

Indian Railways has decided to restart services of 50 special trains that were stopped because of COVID-19 pandemic. These special trains will resume operations from June 21. The demand of passengers has increased in recent times. The Railways took the decision after seeing the rise in demand.

Indian Railways has increased the number of trains gradually as per passenger demand and commercial justification. As on Friday, passenger services have gone up to 983 mail/express trains from 800 mail/express trains. This is 56 percent of the pre-Covid time. Due to high demand, 660 additional mail/express trains have been approved between June 1-18.

Some of the prominent special trains include New Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express, New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi Express, Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, Delhi Sarai Rohilla- Jammu Tawi Duronto, Kalka-Shimla Express, Lucknow-Prayagraj Sangam Express and Chhapra-Lucknow Junction Express.

The Railways has also introduced a new summer special train which will start from June 25, from Gorakhpur in UP to Bandra Terminus in Maharashtra.
