Gujrat: New heritage tourism destination will soon in Vadnagar

The Gujarat state government has announced that the historic city of Vadnagar will soon be transformed into a heritage destination.

The city of Vadnagar is located in the Mehsana district of Gujarat. It is a historically important city with a history of continuous human settlement dating back to the 3rd and 4th centuries. The ancient city is rich in heritage, culture and contains many important archaeological treasures. Vadnagar was formerly known as both Anatapura and Anandapura.

Vadnagar is also one of the most important Buddhist archaeological sites in India. There used to be an ancient Buddhist monastery, evidence of which was found in the discovery of Bodhisattva statues in the 3rd and 4th centuries.
