‘DNA’ becomes first BTS music video with 1 billion hits

What could be better news for the BTS army, than ‘DNA’ hitting a billion mark. BTS’s music video ‘DNA’ became the first music video by the Korean boy band to hit a 1 billion mark on YouTube. The army went crazy on Twitter and congratulated the artistes on their achievement with the hashtag #DNA1B.

One user commented, “And now DNA hits 1.3Billion views on YouTube today wow. Congratulations to us let’s stream more.” Another user commented and also added screenshots of the videos expressing its excitement writing, “They’re really ¼ away from having five total videos reach 1B views and more only half away! #BoyWithLuv1B #DNA1B #bts.”

Korean music videos other than BTS’s ‘DNA’ that have hit the mark of 1 billion views on YouTube are BLACKPINK’S ‘Kill This Love’ and ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’. Apart from this it was PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ and ‘Gentleman’.

The song hit the mark on July 2, 2021 at 11:55 PM (KST). It took the music video 3 years, 9 months, 14 days, 5 hours and 55 minutes to reach the milestone as the music video was released on September 18, 2017 at 6 PM (KST). Upon release ‘DNA’ was critically praised for its production, sound and direction. Commercially ‘DNA’ was successful as it stood at number two in the Gaon Digital Chart and number one in Billboard K-pop Hot 100. It has since sold 2.5 billion copies in South Korea.

BTS is a group of six members which includes Jin, Suga, J-HopeJungkookJimin, RM and V. Their debut was with their single album 2 cool 4 Skool in 2013. They are originally known as Bangtan Boys and were a hip-hop group but their music includes various genres.
