Mamata Mohandas diagnosed with Vitiligo

Jana Gana Mana star Mamata Mohandas took to social media and informed her fans and followers that she is suffering from vitiligo and needs plenty of sunlight.

Malayalam actor Mamta wrote poetically on her social media, “Dear (Sun emoji) , I embrace you now like I have never before. So Spotted, I’m losing color. I rise even before you every morning, to see you glimmer your first ray through the haze. Give me all you’ve got. for I will be indebted, here on out and forever by your grace.”


Vitiligo is a disease that causes loss of skin color in patches. The condition is not life-threatening or contagious but discolored areas usually get bigger with time. Vitiligo is a long-term condition, but it commonly happens on the face, neck and hands, and in skin creases.


Mamata Mohandas is an Indian actress, film producer and a singer. She was born on 14 November 1984 and is trained in Carnatic music and Hindustani music. She has worked in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu film industry.

Mamta has acted in more than 55 films and won several awards including two Filmfare Awards South, for Best Female Playback Singer in Telugu in 2006 and for Best Actress in Malayalam in 2010 and also Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress in 2010.
