Skilled artist Lalita Lajmi passed away at the age of 90 on Monday, February 13. She was the sister of Hindi film director, producer, and actor Guru Dutt. The news of her sad demise was confirmed by the official handle of Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation.
The note read, “We are deeply saddened by the news of artist Lalitha Lajmi’s passing.
Lajmi was a self-taught artist with a keen interest in classical dance. Her works had an element of melancholy and performance, seen here in her artwork, ‘Dance of Life and Death’

Veteran artist Lalita Lajmi was also seen in a cameo role in Taare Zameen Par. She was a famous painter and was a self-taught artist. Over a career spanning 5 decades, she has given lectures in India and UK.
